Life takes place on a time axis: trade-offs in coucals and terns - Professor Hanna Kokko
As a theoretical evolutionary ecologist, I have worked on a number of questions, and quite often they involve time budgets. In an avian context, decisions might involve the timing of arrival on breeding grounds, or whether to spend time and energy to feed the chicks instead of leaving one's partner to do the job. While I am happy producing theory predictions, I am also a birdwatcher and thus even happier when I've got at least 1 project on the go about birds... thus, I will present some data on parenting in black coucals and preliminary results on a new collaboration involving common tern mating decisions.
