Processes of life-history adaptation to spatio-seasonal environmental changes
13 February 15:30
Lecture Theatre 1 in LaMB Life and Mind Building, South Parks Road
This seminar will unpack how adaptation to shifting environmental variability is shaped by the interplay of selection, plasticity, and evolution in key traits that drive spatio-seasonal population dynamics. Drawing on analyses of long‑term data from partially migratory European shags facing extreme climatic events, I will weave together conceptual, empirical, and modelling advances. Throughout, I will highlight the pivotal role of non-linear constraints on the expression of genetic and environmental variation that arise from the discrete nature of life‑history events.
