Abstract Integrating results from Wytham with those from elsewhere provides more robust evidence on the causes and consequences of changes in our environment. The Wytham Estate is part of the UK Environmental Change Network, 11 sites spread across the country where standardised monitoring protocols have been carried out since 1992. Forest dynamic studies at Wytham are linked to the ForestGEO network and the European forestREplot work, experiments looking at droughting effects at Wytham are part of global Drought-Net series, while increasingly bird data across countries are being shared and analysed together. The Wytham Estate is also part of the wider physical landscape around Oxford, acting as a biodiversity hot-spot from which species may spread if habitat conditions improve. Networking, both in the sense of it being part of a web of habitat patches and corridors and in the sense of groupings of researchers, is an important feature of the Estate.
