Ecology

About

Research in ecology encompasses numerous diverse questions and study species, primarily focused on trophic interactions and phenological responses to environmental change, as well as host-parasite dynamics and microbial transmission.

Some of our key research themes include:

  • scale-dependency in phenology
  • phenotypic plasticity
  • trophic mismatch
  • avian ectoparasites
  • disease transmission
  • parasite distribution and dispersal

We use a wide range of techniques such as:

  • remote sensing (e.g. multi-spectral drone imagery)
  • computer vision and deep learning
  • invertebrate sampling
  • long-term field monitoring (e.g. Wytham Tit Study)
  • citizen science initiatives
  • bioinformatic analyses
  • climate chamber experiments
