My broad interests lie in understanding the mechanisms by which organisms respond to variations in their environment and using this knowledge to predict the potential fitness implications under environmental change. During my DPhil, I explored how organisms living in seasonal habitats face trade-offs between optimising different life-history traits due to energy and time restrictions imposed by the environment, in particular testing how variation in plumage quality might act as a potential mediator linking life-history traits in birds, using a combination of theoretical, experimental, and observational approaches.
